First Presbyterian Church - About Us

First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska offers one church service on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. Sunday School classes for both adults and children every Sunday morning at 8:45 a.m.

Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper: First Sunday of each month and Maundy Thursday.

Sacrament of Baptism to be arranged with the pastor.

LOGOS youth program: LOGOS is not an acronym. LOGOS literally means "The Word." (in Greek). LOGOS is a ministry where adults, youth, and children learn to model Christ to each other in everything we do - where everyone is a child of God and deserves to be treated that way.

  • K - 5th Grades meet at the church on Wednesday evenings
    4:30 - 6:30 pm. September through April.
  • Youth in Grades 6 - 12 will meet at the church from
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. September through April.

All the young people have a meal together from 6 - 6:45 p.m. The remainder of the time for each group will consist of Worship Skills, Bible Study, and Recreation.

Vacation Bible School is held for one week each summer.

We offer fellowship groups i.e. Bible studies, Faithseekers and Clippership, which are couples’ groups. Learn more about our Fellowship and Work Groups.

Music is an important part of our ministry. We offer a vocal choir and Bell Choirs for both adults and children. We have a variety of individual musical talents as well.

A strong Deacon program does much of the calling and caring ministry to our members. Many members are involved in prayer chain for those in need.

The Endowment and Gifts Committee appropriates monies given as memorials.
Pastors are encouraged to join and attend the community Ministerial Association that meets once a month.

Special gifts, skills and experiences we have to fulfill our mission:
We are blessed with a generous congregation that enables us to contribute to the following programs: Grocery Cart Sunday, Meals on Wheels, Food Pantry and the Hastings College Scholarship program.

As a congregation we also support One Great Hour of Sharing, Sunday School local mission support and a joy offering. We provide on site worship service as well as communion for the local care home and the retirement center. An audio tape ministry is provided to the homebound members. We have a dedicated music program with a wide variety of talented people.

One of our strengths is a strong core of lay leadership within our congregation that is always willing to step forward and participate both in the church and in the community.
